Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (mainland UAE), an employee who completes at least one year of continuous service is entitled to end-of-service gratuity: 21 days' basic wage for each of the first 5 years, and 30 days' basic wage for each year beyond 5 years. Total gratuity is capped at 2 years' wages. The daily wage is your basic monthly salary ÷ 30. Unpaid-leave days don't count toward service. Under the current law, resignation no longer reduces gratuity (the old unlimited-contract reductions were removed).
Beyond gratuity, your final settlement typically includes: encashment of any unused annual leave (paid at basic wage), any pending/unpaid salary for days worked, notice-period pay if your employer ended the contract without giving notice, minus any documented deductions (e.g., outstanding loans or advances). Air-ticket/repatriation may also apply depending on your contract.
